140 words on ALM prediction

140 words on ALM Prediction benefits

Why do managers need prediction? Why they know more than any ALM system.
True. No ALM analytics system can replace an experienced manager.

Well, prediction is not a replacement. It’s a decision support tool.
It can tell you when you should stop the development and check if you exceed the planed release; when your QA is diverging; when customers defect reporting trend is more than the organizational average. It can help you take decisions whether to implement a change in your product; asses the impact of change in terms of time and cost; asses affect on other components in your product.

To summaries – ALM prediction is not the new sheriff. It is a decision support tool helping us to cope with the ever-changing environment we all live in, and see what’s under the ground…

  1. For years I am trying to create environment where I can use our ALM data warehouse for prediction purposes. I found that only true integrated tools can seek such target. What you are describing here is almost like Crystal Ball that can tell you in advance things that it was better if you know them as early as possible. Looking forward to hear more about it.

  2. Yes indeed...
The ALM prediction is really fascinating, some of it is under IP constraints so not all of it can be published, but I'll ake most efforts to publish it. I liked the Crystal Ball comparrison :-)
